Reading through the comments I have to agree that I think it is the society that creates these dysfunctions. I was born and raised as a dub. I think I have a more passive personality, compared with my older brother who was more an alpha male type. Now as an alpha male I think it is either you say enough of this garbage and get the hell out or you play the game and become a leader of all the passive types. As far as my self because I was not an alpha male an organization like the dubs exposes that approval seeking side of ourselves to their benefit. The only difference is unlike my brother I had an open mind and was willing to read and learn to know it was a load of garbage and did a slow fade. Now I agree that some of the passive aggressive, approval seeking tactics that we are talking about, I was guilty of using them to. Only since I have left the organization have a leaned to communicate better, without using those tactics. Someone like the person I described I think are so emotionally immature that they still fall back on those passive aggressive tenancy in order to get their way. In their narcissist mind they are the only person that counts and there is only one conclusion in the end, that is to win, to get their way regardless of what tactics they use. -

"You don't go to church in a Kingdom Hall"
by stephanie61092 in"you don't go to church in a kingdom hall" was stated during the public talk yesterday.
the speaker then elaborated that "people who go to church, go to fulfill a spiritual obligation.
coming to the kingdom hall is coming to learn.

I found that after 30 years of the same WT garbage it came to a point that I was not learning anything at the KH. IT was just two hours of tuning out and having a nap. Just all the same repetition from one meeting to the next. I know if I walked into a KH tomorrow after not being in one for over 15 years it will be just more of the same. -

In your personal experience, do you think that the WT attracts needy types of people?
Over the years, my experience is that they do attract very needy, insecure, dysfunctional, types.I had an acquaintance that I just basically cut off. She is very needy, insecure, dysfunctional. She is passive aggressive and a narcissist that everything was about her. She would keep a score card about all the favors she did for me, forgetting that a friendship is a two way street as she didn't see all that I did for her. I never minded doing her favors and I did not ask for anything in return. She was the one that would say, well you did this for me I will treat you for coffee or lunch. My mistake as she throw this in my face in the end. Well the finale straw was because I was not available to jump when she ask me to do her a favor and then she flips out, so I just quit responding to her messages and phone calls. In the end I nicely suggested that I did not have the time and that it best she asked someone else to help her out. Well when she realized that she couldn't manipulate me anymore she shows her true colors and starts to use "logical fallacies" and you just took advantage of our friendship to try and guilt and discredit me. Then she goes on to say that she was glad as I showed my "true" colors and that how Jehovah provides for her when she needs him. Well it took her over twenty years to figure this out? Why did I put up with this you may ask, I felt a bit of an obligation to my now deceased mother. Anyway I had enough and have completely cut her out. Life is too short to waste it on toxic people.
Just wonder if anyone else has had these types of experience with J dubs?

The WT has every right to do whatever they like with the property but it will not make those they are evicting feel all warm and fuzzy toward this cult. -

Has anyone else collected their money back from local Kingdom Halls for money loaned for construction?
by StoneWall injust a reminder if you haven't, to get it back before they sell any more halls.even if you're currently da/df you can still collect any monies owed you by the kingdom hall as far as loans go.we were able to get back $1000 that my mom had loaned the local hall for a loan to build new one.it was documented by the paper that had been given each publisher back then on how much they could/would be willing to give as an outright donation or a loan.
the loan was to be paid back whenever the publisher requested it.
(not a specific date)i can't help but feel that a lot of the old timers that loaned monies to the society and/or k-halls have been forgot about by them or their families.

I am not sure if my parents ever loaned money to the WT, although I know they donated thousands of dollars to them over the years. Now my parents are both passed away I would think that even if I found out they had loaned the society money, my dub brothers and sisters would probably just say that was OK to keep it.
I heard of one dub that left all her money to the WT because non of her children were dubs anymore. I discussed it on here before and what I was told was there is nothing her children could do. Whatever she thought she was doing, the only thing that accomplished was none of her children want anything to do with the religion/cult now.

Fidel Castro and the WT
by Hecce ini am going to engage on a trip to the past and share with you some of the matters that marked the beginning of the jws persecution in cuba.
you will be surprised that the pattern that was followed is very similar to what happened in other dictatorial countries.. in the cuban case, i am going to surprise you and tell you that like what happened with hitler; the wt was partially responsible for their clash and confrontation with the cuban government.
during the early 60s the revolution was fighting for survival and they were willing and ready to demolish any perceived enemy to their cause.. a prime example was their war against the catholic church that was the most influential religious entity in the country; it took the supreme leader only a few public discourses to send the vast majority of clergy packing and back to their country, in this case spain.. the jehovah’s witnesses were an insignificant minority but they over estimated their importance and displayed a belligerent attitude, it was known that this was a us based religion and an easy target to connect them with the cia.

WT should admit that 1914
by bobld inwas a man made date when jesus came and that a generation is not 102 plus years.. why not say something like this.when the disciples asked jesus for a sign and the end of the age.jesus gave them a composite sign and said all these things will take place.when-before the people now living(at the end of the age which no one knows)have all died..

This is not the WT style. Like 1975, they will just quietly stop referring to the date and then after 50 years it will be forgotten, like all the other dates the WT has used. -

Help finding a video of GB member saying that Jehovah may not really be God's name
by mamacita29 inhi everyone i'm at work and need to show this video to a jw.
i saw it a few weeks ago i think it was geoffry jackson who said that jehovah may or may not be gods real name but we use it anyways.
can someone help me find that video?

I heard that by the WT years ago. They admit that Jehovah might not be the correct pronunciation as this was a Latanized translation of the YHWH but that is what is acceptable now. By the way I can't stand listening to that Geoffrey Jackson voice. If I had to sit through a whole talk of his I would want to kill myself. -

1974 Special Meetings
by NeonMadman inas we all know, armageddon was just around the corner in 1974. at the district conventions that year, it was announced that there would be two special meetings during the month of september; one would be for interested people (e.g., bible studies, family members, inactive, etc.
), and the other would be for baptized publishers.
these were to be held in place of the service meetings for the two weeks, iirc.

I would like to know what they meant by, "we do know that God's judgement is to be executed within the lifetime of the generation that saw the beginning of the last days." "Accordingly, the generation of people that witness the events of 1914 C.E. is the ones that will see the great tribulation." "Those person who were at an age of understanding in 1914 are diminishing in numbers." -

My parents toward the end of their life came to the reality that they were going to die in this system and not live on forever into a new system. They seemed beaten down and excepting of their ultimate fate. My mom would always say to me, "don't get old, its awful".
